DRAPE SKIRT 15 CHANDELIER
White dipped glass, Brushed Brass metal finish, Black cord
Drape Skirt 15 Chandelier
The Drape Skirt 15 chandelier consists of 15 individual pendants gathered into 5 groups of 3 and supported by a series of 5 brass “skirt” structures along the length of a brass bar. The brass “skirts” attach to the bar by a series of simple slotted connections, allowing the “skirts” to hold the bar with the slight friction of the cords passing through the smooth brass tubes of the “skirts”. Each pendant features a 110mm diameter diffuser of handblown Czech glass suspended on a fabric-wrapped electrical cord. The cords pass through and are affixed to the bar and are evenly spaced around its length. The glass diffusers are available in both “dipped” glass, featuring the SkLO double-dipped flame-polished mouth and “textured” glass, featuring a soft, frosted finish and subtle sculpted vertical ridges. Cord lengths are field adjustable.

About Drape Skirt 15 Chandelier
Glass shaped by hand
The glass spheres of the Drape Skirt 15 Chandelier are formed by hand, allowing them to be slightly imperfect to express their handmade origins. The “dipped” glass options feature an irregular, open mouth, created by double-dipping the piece into the molten glass crucible, followed by breaking the piece from the pipe and fire-polishing the opening – a purposeful expression of craft and the act of glassblowing. The “textured” glass diffusers have no opening. Their surface is frosted and features a subtle pattern of lines etched into the glass for a moody and classic look.
A linear take on the “skirt”
The Drape Skirt 15 Chandelier takes the innovative language of the SkLO “skirt” concept and creates a linear fixture. The look of graceful simplicity does not reveal the complexity of the fixture. This version fits in all the places where a linear fixture is required, even a patisserie counter in Paris.
The possibilities of simplicity
The Drape collection is an investigation into the potential behind the idea of a simple cord-suspended glass pendant that displays the quality and variation of SkLO handblown glass. It begins, necessarily, with the basic Drape Pendant itself. But from there, minimal additions are made – opportunities to enhance the structure, scale, and design of the diverse series comprising the Drape collection, including the Drape Circle, Drape Arm, Drape Skirt, and many more.
