The Four Seasons Napa Valley resort is located in the northern Napa Valley, just outside of the town of Calistoga. One of the most celebrated resort openings in Northern California wine country, the grounds of the Four Seasons Napa Valley encompass more than 22 acres of land, and it is the first resort in the Napa Valley to be set within a working winery and vineyards. The timeless, modern design of the resort and its accommodations reference the agricultural history and materials of the region, and infuse them with comfort and culture.

The US headquarters of SkLO is located just west of the Napa Valley in the Sonoma County town of Healdsburg, so it was a pleasure to be involved with such a prestigious hospitality project which was also local. SkLO worked closely with the interior designers and project team to develop and provide lighting solutions to multiple locations and facilities of the project.

The accommodations at the 85 key resort are divided into two types, guestrooms and suites, and these are grouped into multiple freestanding structures, or units. There are two basic bathroom layouts within the guestrooms and suites, and each of these comes in two different colorways. Known for their luxurious bathrooms, the Four Seasons Napa Valley come in either a bright and nearly-white palette of tile, marble, and plaster or a very contrasting dark palette of dark greys and deep browns.

For all of these, the designers chose SkLO Stem 1X Pendants as the vanity light fixtures. The finish palette of dark oxidized brass hardware and 7”/180mm white glass work perfectly within both of the two interior color schemes, and fit within the two layouts effortlessly.

Some of the resort’s larger suites include a luxurious living room with a dining nook. The interiors of these suites also come in two different color palettes, mirroring the dark and light color schemes of the bathrooms.

For these, the interior designers selected SkLO Wrap Pendants to hang above the round tables at the dining nooks. White glass was chosen for the fixtures in both color schemes, while two different hardware finishes and cord colors were chosen: Brushed brass hardware and gold fabric-wrapped electrical cord for the lighter palette; dark oxidized brass and black fabric-wrapped cord for the darker scheme. Both lend a sophisticated look to this cozy corner of built-in upholstered benches and plentiful throw pillows.

Inside the Calistoga Ballroom, the resort’s largest luxury event space, the interior designers commissioned two custom chandeliers from SkLO. The request was for two larger versions of the SkLO Drape Skirt 18 Chandeliers, each to be 6 feet / 1.8 meters in diameter and containing 36 individual pendants grouped into 12 sets of “skirt” elements.

The chandeliers have custom steel canopies which were custom-designed to integrate into the oversized exposed ceiling trusses from which the chandeliers are suspended. With a material palette of dark oxidized steel and brass hardware, black fabric-wrapped electrical cord, and transparent olivin glass, the moody chandeliers meet the scale of the ballroom and its architecture, while remaining airy and delicate feeling.
