Marietta Cellars is a second-generation Sonoma County family-owned winery dating back to the 1970s. We have known proprietors Scot Bilbro and Lisa Steinkamp for a long time, and we were thrilled when they decided to include fixtures from our Light Collection in the design for a new tasting room and hospitality space for Marietta located near the plaza in central Healdsburg, the Northern California town we all call home.

Steinkamp, an accomplished interior designer herself, led the extensive renovation and design of the space, part of Healdsburg’s original jailhouse. The palette is a mixture of neutrals and natural materials, with floors of large-format dark tile, walls that express the original historical concrete construction in places and white elsewhere. Large salvaged and repurposed furniture pieces anchor the room, performing functions such as tasting bar, service and display.

The massive tasting table is the focal point of the space. Steinkamp layers in a large salvaged row of vintage marble cabinet and countertop behind the table, which supports ornate antique marble shelving holding stemware and bottles on display. A contrasting archway is applied in a dark plaster against the lighter gray walls. Here she chose a classic composition of SkLO Balance Pendants to suspend above the deep surface of the tasting table.

The arching geometries of the Balance 1.0 Pendants and the central Balance 2.0 Pendant play off the plaster arch, blending their lines together harmoniously. Dipped opaque white glass diffusers give a flattering light and the Brushed Brass hardware finish highlights the other subtle brass details in the antique furniture. The precise and delicate lines of the pendants contrast perfectly with the chaotic organic expression of a large wooden sculpture suspended directly opposite, over a crude salvaged serving table.

Steinkamp creates a warm and inviting hospitality space, adding casual seating for a lounging relaxed feel with a bright mustard yellow upholstered banquette and vintage marble and cast iron cafe tables. Here in the corner she layers geometric recessed shelving deep into the white wall. The functional shelving displays Marietta’s many different wines as well as carefully composed decor. Above this, Steinkamp composes a row of SkLO Hold 18 Sconces. The supple lines of the glass diffusers, echoing their molten origins, play well above the grid-like lines of the shelving, taking advantage of the high ceilinged main room. The Hold 18 Sconces share their opaque white glass and brushed brass hardware palette with the Balance Pendants to create continuity within the eclectic space.
