Introducing the Dew Sconce
SkLO is excited to introduce a new-for-2020 lighting design, the DEW Sconce, a beautiful new companion to the SkLO DEW Pendant.
An intense expression of the molten origins of SkLO handblown glass, each DEW Sconce features a solid, sculpted glass diffuser composed of layers of glass applied while hot and in a semi-liquid state, giving it a distinct dripping appearance.
The glass diffusers are made by hand with each “drip” of glass applied one-at-a-time, so no two are ever exactly alike. They are a product of both the individual artisans’ skills and the unpredictable nature of the liquid glass itself – bringing these two elements together is a hallmark of our design philosophy at SkLO.
Suspended on a rigid brass tube arm, and connected to the wall with a circular wallplate, the DEW Sconce is available with two glass finishes – Sandblasted and Clear – as well as multiple brass hardware finishes.
“Topped with a clean, brass cylinder, the DEW Sconce shows our ability at SkLO to combine the minimal and the decorative without sacrificing sophistication or visual beauty,” says SkLO Design Partner, Paul Pavlak.
“We like that our work is still philosophically modern. With the DEW Pendant and now the DEW Sconce, we are watching DEW grow into a compelling collection of its own.”
“Like all our lighting designs, the idea for DEW was born of careful experimentation in glass techniques where we allowed ourselves to freely play until we found a reliable and repeatable direction. From there, we spend a lot of time finding the right way to bring together all the additional elements necessary to turn this into functional lighting design, using the lightest possible hand and the least possible intervention, letting the brass receive as much attention as the glass when we combine the materials.”
